The Dungeon in a Box service provides subscribers a monthly adventure in an ongoing campaign set in the world that America’s DM, David Crennen, created for his famous CritJuice campaigns (warning: while the multiple seasons of CritJuice make an excellent RPG podcast, NO part of it is family-friendly). We have been subscribers from the beginning, and have started multiple iterations of the first campaign, “The Fate of the Greenwold,” including one run by Blake for the All Ages RPG podcast (as of Winter 2020, we haven’t started posting those episodes yet).
In 2019, the Dungeon in a Box service started to also provide bonus adventures to subscribers. One of the first of these was the Hallowe’en one-shot, “All Souls Night.” We played and recorded this for the podcast in October and November 2019; the episodes that feature this mini campaign set in the Greenwold’s Muttonwood start with episode 34, “My chicken has a first name.”
EPISODES
Episode 34: “My Chicken has a First Name!” We meet Sid and her friends as they enter the Muttonwood, which is preparing for the dead to return to their families during “All Souls Night.”
Episode 35: “The Road Inspection Committee” Having agreed to investigate the disappearance of celebrated local legend cheesemaker Piotr Fremanchen, Sid and company head off to Fremanchen’s homestead. On the way, they are waylaid by goblins and bugbears who misidentify Greenwold’s Greatest Detective as a member of the Black Ram Gang.
Episode 36: “Looks like a setup” Sid and crew arrive at Fremanchen’s homestead only to find that he’s vanished. They begin to investigate to find clues as to where he went.
Episode 37: “I’m an investigator, not an exterminator!” Min, Dyrah, and Sid have disturbed a swarm of rats devouring the carcasses of slaughtered mules and must deal with the consequences.
Episode 38: “Won-ton violence!” Sid leads the gang deeper into the Muttonwood, following a trail of footprints leading away from Piotr’s demolished dairy farm.
Episode 39: “Tall glass, short flask, leaky jar” On the trail of the gang that seem to have abducted the cheeseman, Piotr Fremanchen, the investigators have surprised a herd of drunken goats deep in the Muttonwood.
Episode 41: “What’s-his-bucket” As the sun begins to rise over the Muttonwood, the party finds Piotr Fremanchen prepared and bound as an apparent sacrifice for a religious ritual being performed by black ram gang hobgoblins.
Episode 42: “A Pact for Cheese” Just as Sid and her friends are about to free Piotr from his hobgoblin captors, the black ram gang’s ritual is crashed by some unwelcome visitors.
